Dharma Yoga w/ Jack Westerholt

Created by Sri Dharma Mittra in 1975, Dharma Yoga is a modern interpretation of classical Eight-limbed or Hatha-Raja Yoga, deeply rooted in ethical precepts that includes elements of flowing Vinyasa, inversions and held poses that will help you to discover concentration, meditation, abiding contentedness and deep healing relaxation. The physical posture practice (Asana) tones and invigorates the body and mind, leading to enhanced flexibility, strength, balance and concentration. Breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditative techniques regulate the heartbeat, de-stress the nervous system and calm the mind. Guided deep healing relaxation or Yoga Nidra relieves stress, slows down the thoughts, calms the mind and recharges ones one’s physical body. Dharma Yoga is traditional, yet contemporary — perfect for the fast-paced world of today. A complete practice that will lead to radiant health and a peaceful life.

 

Jack’s Bio:

In the fall of 2001, Jack took his first yoga class with his wife, Kelly. Transformed and inspired, he became a Bikram Yoga teacher in 2004 and later a Synergy teacher in 2015. Most recently, Jack traveled to NYC to complete the 500-Hour Life of a Yogi Teacher Training with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2018. Along the way, he began giving yoga philosophy lectures at studios, festivals and teacher trainings around the world. An advertising writer by day, Jack has found guidance in the words of Swami Sivananda, Paramahansa Yogananda, Patanjali and Lao Tzu, wearing the covers books like The Art Of Peace and The Little Zen Companion. In his spare time, he’s enjoyed exploring the six-year course outlined in the back of B.K.S Iyengar’s Light on Yoga. When not standing on his head or using it to solve marketing problems, Jack is co-director of a small yoga studio at his ad agency.

Partner Yoga and Thai Massage  w/ Francisco Morales-Bermudez

Francisco will walk you through a series of Thai Massage techniques designed to alleviate pain & remove blockages in the spine, shoulders, hips and legs. All you need to participate is ample space on the floor, some blankets, a couple of pillows, and a partner. You will take turns giving & receiving for the course of the workshop. Francisco has over 20 years of experience in Thai Massage and currently leads Thai Massage certifications all over the world. He is passionate about sharing this healing touch art form based on the buddhist principles of metta & karuna. He studied with his teacher Kam Thye Chow.

Bruno is an Ashoka Fellow, environmental lawyer and an MPhil in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge. He has worked for over a decade in the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law supporting the creation and management of private and public protected areas. In 2012 he founded Conservamos por Naturaleza, an initiative that gives Peruvians a platform that inspires people to connect with nature and take action for the planet. He has published several books and also directed over 50 short videos, including A la Mar, an award winning documentary about the Peruvian campaign to protect surf breaks.

Taoist 5-Element Qigong and Meditation w/ Shanti Webley from Firewater Traditions

Shanti has practiced and studied with Bruce and his instructors for nearly a decade. He has a wealth of practical knowledge in guiding beginners and experienced practitioners in Energy Arts qigong sets, meditative practices and internal martial arts. Shanti loves helping his students on their paths to becoming healthier, more emotionally balanced and truly powerful in their bodies and energy.

Shanti will be teaching two Taoist practices: an easy to learn qigong set and a practical inner alchemy meditation. Both of these practices have been used in China for centuries to activate the 5 elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and water – in one’s own body. Expect to learn new ways to access health, vigor and equanimity.
