4.16.21 – 4.24.21 – Yoga Journey to Peru (FULL)


Location: Sacred Valley, Peru 

Date: April 16-24, 2021

Description: All inclusive (hotel, meals, transportation to and from airport) yoga journey to Machu Picchu & Peru’s Sacred Valley. This adventure begins in Lima, Peru’s coastal capital and continues to Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire. Each day consists of daily adventures to visit various of Peru’s iconic gems (Pisac, Rainbow Mountain, Machu Pichu, Moray) as well as a daily yoga practice.

-Arrive at Lima Airport (get picked up at the airport)

-Presentation by David Mutal on the Inca Architecture (following dinner @Second Home Peru). In order for you to be best prepared for the journey I have invited one of the best architects in Peru to give us some insight into the Inca architecture

-Fly to Cusco, the Capital of the Inca empire (this is a short one hour flight to Cusco)

-Pick up at the Cusco Airport

-Dinner at hotel Yoga Mandala (our home for the week)

-Visit Urubamba Farmers Market – the Inca cultures religion’s founding principles are the worshipping of the Earth (Pachamama) & the Sun (Inti)at this market the farmers from the region bring their cosecha (harvest) and it gives us insight into the richness of this  culture in it’s reverence to the earth)

– Visiti world renowned ceramic artist “Seminario” (learn the traditional ceramic artistry of the Inca culture, Pablo Seminario & his wife Marilu Behar have been very active in preserving the traditional ceramic artistry of the Inca Culture, we will visit their ceramic art school & gallery)

-Lunch is provided by  Yoga Mandala Hotel

-Visit Ollantaytambo, Ollantaytambo is listed as a living Culture, and a Living Inca City since its inhabitants live according to customs inherited from their ancestors. Their houses are built on Inca bases.

Ollantaytambo is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the province of Urubamba (Cusco). It is located 2,792 meters above sea level, almost 60 kilometers from the city of Cusco. The town sits next to the Urubamba River. 

You will be amazed to see narrow streets of stone, which have original water channels from the Inca era in which a large amount of water flows. At the peak of Ollantaytambo we will also hike to see the Temple of the Sun & the Condor. It is considered a religious & a place of battle .

Journey to Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca — is a sacred  site, also known as the Mountain of Seven Colors, or more simply Rainbow Mountain — four years ago it started to welcome tourists, when the snow covering it melted, revealing the natural beauty of the rock beneath. Formed by weathering, environmental conditions and sedimentary deposits over time, the mountain’s unique minerology created a marbling effect, with layered hues of gold, lavender, red and turquoise towering into the sky.

-Breakfast at Rainbow Mountain Cabin

-Hike around 1.5 hours at Rainbow Mountain. Some in the group will walk & others can  go on  horse (this is optional as some will prefer to walk) The hike is not rigorous and very scenic as  you will be amidst the Vinicunca Mountains.

-Lunch at Rainbow Mountain (lunch provided by Yoga Mandala)

-Dinner at Yoga Mandala

-Visit Chincheros and see the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco

-We will find a nice place  in Chincheros  to sit & eat lunch together

-Visit Moray, is an agricultural wonder. The Incas were able to generate several weather parents at each level of the terraced platform therefore able to provide a variety of crops that would not normally grow in the high Andes. They regarded the earth as sacred therefore Moray was a sacred gathering space of the high thinkers (the advanced farmers & students of the stars). Moray is also a World Heritage Site.

-Train journey to the town of Aguas Calientes at the bed of the Machu Picchu mountain. This train ride is considered among the most beautiful in the world traversing through parts jungle & sierra. 

-Early arrival at Machu Picchu

-Explore/tour Machu Picchu, Hike to the Gate of the Sun

-Afternoon train to go back to the Sacred Valley

-Dinner at Yoga Mandala


-Breakfast at Yoga Mandala

-Visit the archeological site of Pisaq. We will be hiking from the higher area towards the ancient temples. 

-Lunch in the village (lunch provided by hotel)

-After lunch free time to explore the colorful and world renowned artisans market & native arts

-Visit Cusco city & stop to visit the sacred places like the rock shrine at Qenqo and Sacsayhuaman, an astonishing megalithic place consider the House of the Sun

-Lunch in town or picnic by the sacred temple of Sacsayhuaman

-Farewell dinner back at YogaMandala Hotel

-Free afternoon to relax at Yoga Mandala, receive massages, practice yoga, maybe a Thai Massage lesson for the group upon our return
